In 2008 it can be harder than ever to raise your children by the Bible. With internet, television, drugs, and so many negative and worldly influences, how do parents stick to Gods word and keep the Bible in their parenting? Sometimes it is hard to focus and families can feel very alone in the adventure of parenting under Gods word. One organization to help is the National Center for Biblical Parenting found on the web at www.biblicalparenting.org
This ministry has a simple mission. Change the way families think about parenting. Focus on scriptures and remain relevant and practical for families of all types. They do this through providing practical Biblical resources, conferences, and support groups. Their site includes a internet filter for children, video series, free email tips, childrens curriculum, training for parent coaches to help other parents, and much more. Resources include books and videos with a variety of topics. Some are aimed to increase parenting skills and teach parents how to interact with children and raise them with Godly values. Others are aimed to provide activities for children of different ages: preschoolers to teens.
The National Center for Biblical Parenting was found in 2002 under the leadership of Dr. Scott Turansky and Joanne Miller, RN, BSN. They are the authors of the Effective Parenting ministry and realized there was a greater need to be fulfilled. They began the NCBP to help parents as well as equip churches and families on a larger scale. Parents can assist in selling resources to friends, families, churches and ministries and keep 20% of the sales as income. The site reaches out to our multilingual society with resources and trainings also offered in Spanish.
